I started writing this song in 2018 in a loft in Strasbourg on the border of France and Germany
I was on tour with JBT at the time and had a few back to back shows and a day off on either side which offered an oasis in the middle of a wild tour
even though it was just a few days, the time spent in that loft overlooking the city was one of my favorite moments of that winter
sitting on the floor under the open wooden beams with the city buzzing underneath
it felt like a moment to breath and to really think
if you want something that doesn't exist yet you have to make it for yourself
and if you're not willing to accept less than the ideal your heart is searching for you're going to walk a path that, as lonely as it may seem, will lead you to the most fulfillment in the long run
I never did finish this song back then, but I did wake up every morning and walk to that cathedral on the border of two great empires
I thought of all that rises and falls
within the world
within me
and I guess now
all these years later
I'm writing this as a letter for you and me
keep chasing that moon
keep howling for the ones you love
eventually you'll find what's worthy
eventually you'll find what lasts
start with accepting everything inside yourself
and you'll find that place of wholeness
is the key
to unlocking
the treasure within
and around you
